Matthew L. Prather, Esquire

Matt is a dynamic, results-driven Attorney with over 20 years of experience in developing and implementing effective legal strategies. Matt represents businesses in matters including complex transactions, contracts, governmental regulations, mergers, acquisitions, sales, legal determinations, risk management, insurance issues, employment issues, defense of claims and litigation. Matt is skilled in real estate transactions, land use, land development, governmental approvals, design, documentation and creation of Planned Communities and Condominiums, HOA management and representation, leasing, construction, finance and civil litigation. Matt has a proven ability to achieve successful outcomes related to complex transactional matters.

Matt grew up in Lower Burrell and graduated from Burrell High School in 1994. He received his undergraduate degree in 1998 from Gannon University. He received his Juris Doctorate in 2002 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Westmoreland County Bar Association. Matt formerly served as legal clerk for the Supreme Court of the State of Oklahoma. Early in his career, he provided general practice / business litigation at McCalister & Associates, Attorneys at Law, in New Kensington.  Matt provided litigation support for Reed Smith in downtown Pittsburgh. Matt worked as a supervising attorney with the law firm of Sebring and Associates in Monroeville for 18 years. Matt has served as a member of the Murrysville Zoning Hearing Board since 2015.

Business representation: Matt is experienced in business operations including sales, acquisitions, governmental regulations and approvals, corporate matters, employment matters, collections, defense of claims and insurance issues.

Real Estate Law: Matt has represented commercial property owners, landlords, tenants, land developers, home builders, contractors, condominium and planned community associations, lending institutions, commercial and residential property buyers and sellers. Matt is skilled in title matters, contracts and complex transactions. Matt has coordinated and conducted hundreds of real estate closings.

Litigation: Matt has served as lead counsel in multiple bench and jury trials. He has courtroom experience in Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, Butler, Beaver and Fayette Counties.

Matt has strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as excellent negotiation, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Matt is experienced in evaluating alternatives and implementing best options.

Matt resides in Murrysville with his wife Jaclyn, his daughter Madeline and his son Henry.
